The DeLonghi Bar32 espresso maker originates in Italy where it is very popular and now it is taking North America by storm.
DeLonghi is experienced in producing well made espresso makers at an affordable price.
Lets find out why the Bar32 is so popular in Europe and North America.
Lets start with the most obvious feature, that is its good looks, and the fact that it makes an excellent espresso.
Another feature is the 35 ounce water container big enough to make 9 shots of espresso.
When making the espresso the brewing process can be halted by stopping the flow of water to the espresso grounds.
One handy feature is the speed with which the machine works, so there is no waiting.
DeLonghi Bar32 has only the necessary controls. One is the stainless steel knob at the front which has settings with four positions.
From right to left they are:
Letting water flow through the espresso
Preheat the water for brewing espresso
OFF
Preheat the water for the wand to steam-heat and froth milk
The green light shows that the espresso machine is now ready for either steam or brewing espresso.
The red light shows that the heating element has reached the right temperature.
Then there is the knob on top of the machine to control the steam for frothing the milk.
One of the many plus points on this machine is definitely the very good wand for frothing the milk.
This is very efficient and fast. When the frothing is done all you do is to move the knob two positions to the right,
and you will find that the milk is at exactly the right consistency and temperature to make your drink.
Even though the DeLonghi Bar32 is of a compact size, the drip tray is big enough for a decent sized coffee mug.
The espresso produced looks and tastes deliciously smooth with its light brown layer of crema on top.
After all having a wonderful cup of espresso is what you want.
32oz water reservoir lets you make 3 or 4 cappuccinos, or 6 to 8 espressos, without refilling
Built-in tamper means one less part to lose
Pre-heat cycle helps make good espresso
The cons of the DeLonghi Bar32
I found it quite hard to make a good double espresso (but maybe it was my fault)
There is a slight steam wand leak (but it only seems to happen at the beginning of a brewing cycle -
to solve this I keep mine over the drip tray)
These espresso makers are for:
Someone who does not have a lot of space or money
Singles or couples who don't have to make a lot of espressos
People like me who don't like machines with a lot knobs and switches
A person who just want a good espresso
Someone who like the fact that you can use both ESE pods and loose grounds
Let's take a look at all of the coffee maker features.

For less than $100, you won't find a better expresso machine than the Delonghi BAR32
The machine is easy to operate and at the same time it produces a good quality espresso with the right amount of crema.
Let me show you what current owners have to say about it.
Gian Luca D. writes: I have purchased this machine from Amazon on June 2006, that's 16 months ago and I have been using this coffee maker every day,
usually 2 to 3 times a day. A few words about me, I grew up in Italy, lived there for over 20 years
and I still go visit my country for at least a month every year so I should know about coffee, right?
DeLonghi is considered a good brand in Italy....

Kevin Q. says: The DeLonghi uses either ground espresso, or E.S.E. espresso pods.
The E.S.E. pods are not proprietary - any company can make them.
The DeLonghi comes with a package of 18 Illy pods (retail - $12). The pods are convenient, but still expensive.
I've had the espresso maker for several days, and I'm happy with it so far.
With the pods, it pulls a good single espresso with a satisfactory crema. Sugar floats on top of the crema for about 2-3 seconds,
and it has a nice golden color. The espresso tastes very smooth.
Pulling a good single espresso, either with the pods or loose coffee, is pretty easy.
Use the pods as a good judge of how tightly to pack the grounds in the filter.
Use a level, loosely packed scoop of coffee for a single shot.....
